West Springfield Senior Community forced to adapt after main A/C unit breaks during heat wave [Video]

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WGGB/WSHM) – Western Mass News got answers after a viewer reached out to us about a broken air conditioning system at an elderly care facility in West Springfield amid this week’s scorching temperatures.

We found out what the Monastery Heights Senior Community is doing to help their residents beat the heat, with staff claiming their A/C unit for the entire building broke down a few weeks ago.

In light of this week’s heat wave, the facility rented out as many A/C units as possible to keep things cool.

An email was sent to us Wednesday from a viewer who wished to remain anonymous, saying:

“There is no working air conditioning at Prosper at Monastery Heights in West Springfield. As is, the rooms are small, and the heat is too much. Now, they say it could be another 2-3 weeks before the A/C is fixed.”
