UPS partners with Baton Rouge car dealership for air conditioner giveaway [Video]

BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — June 20 marks the first day of summer and Big Brown Reaches Back is ensuring senior citizens have a working air conditioner amid the hot temperatures.

Over the last 15 years, UPS and Gerry Lane Chevrolet in Baton Rouge have installed 24,000 air conditioners across Louisiana.

One UPS driver says it started with an elderly woman who couldn’t afford to get their AC fixed.

“We’ve been making sure our elderly are taken care of during the summertime – it’s hot. We know how hot it is. We’re UPS employees. We drive trucks all the time and we know how hot it is on our truck. So, you can imagine how hot it is in somebody’s house. And we’ve been doing it ever since,” said Joseph James, UPS Big Brown Reaches Back coordinator.
