The Itoo Society hosts their 57th annual Shish-Ka-Bob Fundraiser [Video]

PEORIA (25News Now) – Peoria’s Itoo society connects the Lebanese community to their homeland. Their annual Shish-Ka-Bob connects their culture with central Illinois.

It was their 57th annual Shish-Ka-Bob fundraiser on Sunday. Every year the organization fundraises to spread money for essentials for people living in Lebanon and the local community in Peoria.

60 to 70 volunteers served around around 2,000 meals. The society typically sees the $20,000 come in from this event. Kristen Reynolds has been coming here since she was a kid and says it’s a great way to showcase the Lebanese culture.

“It brings exposure to the mission and the fact that we get to serve and raise some money for it. You also get to know us as a community and see what we do,” said Kristen Reynolds, Event Chair of the 57th Annual Itoo Shish-Ka-Bob.

The society served beef and chicken Shish-Ka-Bob, cabbage rolls, salad, and more. …
