Team Sonny lemonade stand fundraiser held in Dunmore [Video]

DUNMORE, LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — A fundraiser was held in memory of a Lackawanna County teenage student-athlete.

A lemonade stand was set up in Dunmore Sunday evening for the opening night of the Bucktown Music Fest.

Freshly made lemonade and baked goods were sold in memory of 16-year-old Sonny Crotti.

The Dunmore Bucks sophomore passed away in February from brain cancer.

West Pittston parking lot filled for ‘Vettes for Vets’

A 10-year-old Dunmore boy organized the lemonade stand in Crotti’s name to benefit Friends of the Bucks, which supports the football team.

“Some people really don’t have enough money for stuff so I thought maybe I could help them out a little bit with the stuff that they need,” said Organized Lemonade Fundraiser Brody McCarthy.

“These kids wanted to do something and it’s great to have them be so community-minded as youngsters. It’s a good lesson for them,” said Dunmore High School Teacher and Dunmore Council Member William “Trip” O’Malley.
