A new study from the University of Cincinnati suggests strawberries might be more than just a delicious treat. Researchers gave overweight middle-aged adults a daily powder supplement with the equivalent of one cup of strawberries. After 12 weeks, those on the strawberry powder showed improvements in memory and reduced symptoms of depression. Scientists believe this might be due to the anti-inflammatory properties of anthocyanins, a type of antioxidant found in strawberries. This is exciting preliminary research, but further studies with larger groups and longer durations are needed to confirm these findings.
