There’s a new postpartum depression medication available in South Carolina.One of the most common complications of pregnancy, and what doctors say most don’t realize is postpartum depression and it impacts 1 in 7 women. Doctors say new mothers may feel hopelessness, anxiety, sadness and little desire to connect with their babies.Dr. Neha Hudepohl is a psychiatrist for Prisma Health in Greenville. She’s also a mother of two. “It sometimes will start in pregnancy. But more often gets worse after a woman has a baby. And it can be characterized by sadness, loss of interest in things, or sleep or appetite, low energy,” Hudepohl said. “But maybe, in a lot of ways, I think what we get concerned about is that when women get really depressed after they have a baby, they have a hard time taking care of themselves.”And they also have a hard time connecting or bonding with their …
