Rochester expanding city limits to allow Texas developers to build more housing | News [Video]

ROCHESTER, Minn. – City Council approved the addition of 45 acres of land to city limits to authorize the Dallas-based real estate company, Anthony Properties, to create more housing options in Northwest Rochester.

Anthony Properties says the company is planning to focus on constructing multi-family housing, along with some commercial development.

However, this came as a concern to City Council Member Norman Wahl. He voted no against the proposal because he is worried not enough single family housing units will be built.

“I believe we are building more than enough apartment buildings in Rochester right now, particularly in Ward 3. I can accept the concept promoted by Anthony Properties as long as the city gets what it needs,” said Council Member Wahl.
