River Action needs help removing invasive plants [Video]

River Action needs your help with cleanup at Rock Island County’s newest park.

River Action is hosting a community cleanup event at the Amôwa Forest Preserve on June 27 from 9 a.m. – 12 p.m. to remove invasive honeysuckle. Volunteers are invited to show support and learn how to identify and remove this invasive species.

Volunteers are asked to wear long pants and appropriate shoes. They should be aware that the park is somewhat steep, but anyone who has issues with physical activity can work closer to the edge of the preserve. Those interested in the cleanup can RSVP by emailing gsolbrig@riveraction.org.

The Amôwa Forest Preserve is a 172-acre property in East Moline that provides space for public use and for establishing critical pollinator habitat. The preserve is named for the Sauk word for “bee.”
