Public schools are in need of local support [Video]

Strong local public schools enhance communities, from increasing property values to attracting more diverse future residents to creating better educated and engaged citizens — citizens who grow to provide everything from food service to medical care (and everything in between). Today’s students are tomorrow’s voters and public servants, holding public office and providing much-needed government services.

For people who care about children, families, having healthy communities, or equity and social justice, consider championing your local schools. Rarely does an opportunity present itself where you see the impact of your efforts as quickly and directly as when you volunteer, donate to and support local schools.

I’ve seen firsthand how much teachers care about their students, no matter how much attitude and resistance kids dish out. Teachers and staff know what their mission is and what’s at stake. They never stop bringing passion and creativity to reach each individual scholar.
