Prince Harry has opened up on bereavement and grieving in an emotionally-charged interview with a charity founder who helps military families facing the loss of a loved one.

Sitting down with mother-of-two Nikki Scott, the founder of Scotty’s Little Soldiers, the parr discussed the pain of losing a family member.

Ms Scott recalled the moment she had to tell her son that his father, Corporal Lee Scott, had been killed in Afghanistan.

Harry shared his own experience of loss, having lost his mother, the late Princess Diana, when he was 12.

“You convince yourself that the person you’ve lost wants you, or you need, to be sad for as long as possible, to prove to them that they’re missed,” he said. “But then there’s this realisation [that} no they must want me to be happy.”
