FANS of the popular Mod pizza may find themselves searching for a new pizza joint after next week.
The fan-favorite restaurant has announced that they are preparing to potentially file for bankruptcy.
Sources close to the Seattle-based pizza joint revealed that they could be entering court proceedings as soon as next week, though the insider noted that things may change.
“We’re working diligently to improve our capital structure and are exploring all options to do so,” a Mod Pizza spokesperson told Bloomberg.
Another spokesman for the brand, Rick Van Warner, told Restaurant Business that the brand-new fast food minimum wage did not play any part in the store closures.
According to Van Warner, the timing was just a coincidence.
Van Warner stated the stores that were affected were the chain’s “underperformers.”
