Title: An Ally for Autism: Physical Activity & Recreation for Individuals Living with ASD
Learning Objectives:
1) Understand the benefits of physical activity on the physical, social, and emotional wellness of individuals living with autism
2) Articulate and apply strategies around how to create movement experiences that are positive and successful for diverse learners and movers
2) Reflect upon our roles, and ways in which we can use person centered approaches and community based/participatory frameworks in program design and facilitation

About Amanda: Amanda wears several hats and prides herself on being an educator and a lifelong learner. She teaches adapted physical activity, movement, and health classes at several post secondary institutions across Edmonton. She also supports various research projects through the Faculty of Kinesiology, Sport, & Recreation. The rest of her time is spent working in the community as a recreational and physical activity consultant with Equality Fitness & Recreation. In this role, Amanda supports individuals living with impairment, many living with autism, to pursue meaningful sport and physical activity experiences in ways that work for them
