SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (KY3) – While many people spend June going on vacation trips, Mark Applegate is spending it walking for a cause.
The Frisco Highland Trail between Bolivar and Springfield is a 37-mile stretch that runs through towns like Walnut Grove and Willard and passes by everything from out-of-the-way private drives to industrial areas to the outskirts of the Springfield-Branson National Airport.
Applegate is getting to know every bit of that trail as he’s attempting to make the 37-mile trip every day this week.
June is Alzheimer’s Awareness Month and for the past four years Mark has raised over $15,000 by doing different endeavors to fundraise and bring awareness to the disease.
