Oregon residents speak out against permit for behavioral health facility at The Landings [Video]

OREGON, Ohio (WTVG) – The Landings, a senior living facility in Oregon, is requesting a special use permit to operate as a behavioral health facility with inpatient psychiatric, dual diagnosis, residential, and intensive outpatient care.

Some residents, like Kristen Shinaver, say they are in favor of these services, but do not approve of the location.

“Being that close, there are many, many other places in Oregon,” Shinaver said.

Shinaver says she is opposed to the facility being in a residential neighborhood, and because her kids attend the daycare center next door.

“I’m all for giving people a fair shot at mental health and recovery services, but having it be so close to kids and families, it’s a little bit much,” Shinaver said.

The plan isn’t final yet. The Oregon Planning Commission still has to approve the application and so does Oregon City Council.
