Officials looking for missing 89-year-old from Catawba County [Video]

HICKORY, N.C. (WBTV) – An 89-year-old from Catawba County is missing after his wife was taken to the hospital earlier this week, officials said.

John Calhoun McDowell Jr. was last seen Tuesday morning by his wife and EMS when she was taken to Frye Regional Medical Center in Hickory.

Officials said McDowell never arrived at the hospital and may be suffering from cognitive impairment.

McDowell is 6 feet tall and weighs approximately 210 pounds. He has blue eyes and gray hair. He may be driving a silver 2013 Honda CRV with a North Carolina license plate numbered “BFJ-1476.”

Officials said he has ties to the Asheville area in Buncombe County.

Anyone with information about his location or disappearance should call Hickory Police at 828-328-5551.
