No Escape Room offers resources against rising teen sextortion [Video]

GREEN BAY, Wis. (WBAY) – The Wisconsin Department of Justice now has resources for parents and teens to better understand how kids become victims of online exploitation.

It’s one of the greatest risks that kids and teens face online, but officials say most parents don’t quite understand how it happens.

An interactive film called “No Escape Room” is offered for parents, caregivers, teachers — anyone who works with kids. It’s by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.

It will better help you understand sextortion and how to protect your child from it.

We’ve recently followed cases of teens becoming victims of sextortion. It’s a form of child sexual exploitation.

Officials say in these cases kids or teens are threatened or blackmailed. More often than not, when they become a victim, the suspects in these cases threaten to share nude or sexual images of your child.
