Nick Knoth recall passes | Elections [Video]

First Ward residents voted Tuesday night to remove Columbia First Ward councilperson Nick Knoth in a recall election sparked by concerns over Knoth’s lobbyist work outside the council.

The recall passed 531 to 394, according to unofficial results from the Boone County Clerk’s office. 

“I think everyone including myself is relieved. You know, public service is an honor and a privilege, but it certainly has a negative impact on your personal and family life. So I think everyone is relieved I’ll have more time to spend on those things,” Knoth said after Tuesday’s election.

“My final message to the First Ward, to those who supported me, I appreciate it, and to the whole ward, I hope everyone unites together and focuses on what’s important to the ward and not divide any further,” he said. “It’s important we all pull together to represent ourselves and ensure positive things happen.”
