New MPS acting superintendent, addresses district challenges [Video]

On Monday, the Milwaukee Public Schools Board of School Directors voted to make Eduardo Galvan acting superintendent.The board originally enlisted Galvan’s assistance with day-to-day operations after Superintendent Keith Posley resigned June 4. Monday, the board upgraded Galvan’s position, granting him additional authority.Galvan sat down with WISN 12 News reporter Kendall Keys on Friday. “I think we’re in a much better place today than we were yesterday. And we’ll continue to move forward on that,” Galvan said. Galvan has worked at Milwaukee Public Schools for more than three decades. Now, he’s tasked with pulling the district out of a financial reporting scandal. Last month, the state Department of Public Instruction revealed MPS was eight months behind in reporting key financial data to the state.
