New details in case of man accused of abusing four children under his guardianship [Video]

MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) – FOX10 News is learning more about the man accused of abusing four children.

38-year-old Roderick Beck was arrested and charged with willful child abuse after police say four children in his care showed up to school with signs of bruising. Investigators say all children were under 18 years of age.

Beck was in court for his arraignment Wednesday morning and he pled not guilty to four counts of willful child abuse. The judge then ordered Beck to have no contact with the victims.

“We take these cases very seriously– we stand for the protection of children- they are among the most vulnerable,” said Mobile District Attorney Keith Blackwood.

“By statute, he is defined as a ‘responsible person’ for those children, so he was responsible for them. That would include a parent or legal guardian or a caretaker for a child,” Blackwood explained.
