My Six-Year Reflection on Advocacy [A Rough Guide to Advocacy]

Hey! I’m Issy (she/he/any), and these are my reflections on advocacy during my time as a full-time college student.

To summarize the video, there are three spaces in advocacy (existing, following, and leading). I think it’s important to understand which space you stand in and also knowing when to move up or to move down. Advocacy is such a gray area and these spaces can easily bleed into each other. Additionally these spaces can exist in a wide variety of capacities depending on the size and needs of the community you’re serving. Overall, advocacy is a never ending and evolving topic and in the future I would love to revisit this video to add and revise some key points.

Thank you to everyone who listens to me yap in real life and gave me the courage to share my yappings on the internet.
