TOLEDO, Ohio (WTVG) – Mercy Health says it does more than serve the people who come through its doors. It also seeks out those who may not have access to insurance or healthcare, meeting people where they are.
Mercy Health is putting its mission statement into practice, bringing preventative healthcare to the underserved people in the community.
From senior centers and libraries to church events and festivals; Mercy Health nurses are traveling around the Toledo area performing blood pressure, blood sugar and total cholesterol tests for anybody over the age of 18.
“I’ve seen them on the other side of the spectrum when they were in the hospital getting treated so it was important for me to get out there and get people educated in what their numbers are because numbers are power,” Bethny Pfeiffer a nurse coordinator for Mercy Community Health said.
