Memphis Housing Authority celebrates South City phase 5 opening [Video]

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) – Memphis Housing Authority and McCormack Baron Salazar commemorated the opening of the neighborhood’s fifth stage of development on Thursday.

The celebration marks the nearly complete neighborhood transformation, where more than 700 units have been built to support mixed-income Memphians, including families and senior adults.

The 5th phase included a four-story, 120-unit senior building equipped with a fitness center, health clinic, and a salon.

Funding for the development came through a collaboration between MHA and the City of Memphis as part of the Choice Neighborhoods mixed-income housing fund.
