We talked about awareness, perspective in the previous videos. Meditation is a method that helps train in awareness, building a healthy sense of perspective and being mindful in the moment

There may be so many misconceptions about meditation, it is not to get rid of your thoughts or feelings, let them surface. Infact, one gets to observe them without judgment.

It reduces stress and so much more, it is supported by science and research as well in case that helps.

Best is to experience it for yourself. To me, meditation is a way of life.

One can practice it in various forms. Be it through mindfulness, and many more.
I see there is no right and wrong.I feel fortunate and blessed to learn it from some amazing coaches and mentors going all the way back to ancient days.

Today we’ll experience a simple form of meditation inspired by Vipassana, Anapana taught by Shri S N Goenka ji, inspired by his teacher Shri Sayagyi U Ba Khin in Burma and learning all the way to Buddhas’ teaching itself. More info on Vipassana here: https://www.dhamma.org/en-US/index

I’d like to give my gratitude and love to them and each one of you in this way

Let’s practice meditation together.

Before we get started. You can remove your specs if you’re wearing any. You can relax your shoulders. Keep your back straight and neck straight as well. Feet on the ground. Sit in a comfortable position. Nothing on your lap. If you do want, you can rest your palms on your lap.

Be comfortable. We’ll take breath from the nose. We’ll keep our mouth closed currently. Avoid any visualization and chanting. We’ll start with three deep breaths, centre ourselves and move to regular breath.

Watch your breath as you keep your eyes closed. Watch your breath enter the nostrils. Come out from the nostrils. Doesn’t matter which one it’s going from, which one it’s coming out or both are being used or one is being used. Just watch your breath going in and coming out from the nostrils just above your lips, around, the moustache area.

Your role right now is simply to play the role of a guard who’s watching every breath going in and watching every breath coming out, not missing any breath, simply present to the breath going in, the breath coming out.

And you keep repeating this breath in, breath out from your nostrils.

As you do this, it’s very natural to have different thoughts. Sometimes different distractions pull you in different directions as you identify with one. Bring yourself back to the act of watching your breath

You continue this activity for as long as you want.

The act of watching your breath – getting in, coming out through your nostrils with your mouth closed, with your eyes closed.

In case your eyes opens up, please close them again. It’s best experienced with your eyes closed, watching the breath go in, come out. Repeat.

When you feel ready, you can warm up your palms.

Produce heat by rubbing it together and place it over your eyes. Keep your eyes closed. Now slowly open them up, internally covered by palms, three times. Rub your palms again and place them on your eyes. Provide the heat and the warmth to your head, to your neck, to your body. And slowly, when you feel ready, you can open up your eyes, smile, and say, thank you for this opportunity.
