Infirmary Health, United Health Care sign new agreement [Video]

MOBILE, Ala. (WKRG) — Days after many Gulf Coast residents feared losing medical care with their insurance carrier, Infirmary Health and United Health Care have come to an agreement.

The agreement, following a contract’s termination after “months of negotiations,” is effective immediately, according to a press release.

Officials say that under the new, long-term commercial insurance hospital-services contract, “All UHC patients will resume in-network coverage at Infirmary Health hospitals and any care administered during the period of contract suspension, which began on June 4, 2024, will retroactively be covered as in network as well.”

Infirmary Health, which operates more than 60 physician practices in Mobile and Baldwin counties, promised to communicate with affected patients as quickly as possible to ensure they were informed about the new agreement.
