LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — Indiana will launch a new program for seniors on Medicaid.

Indiana PathWays for Aging begins July 1. Hoosiers aged 60 and older on Medicaid will now pick a managed health plan from Anthem, Humana or United Healthcare.

The new program doesn’t change or expand benefits but will connect seniors with a care coordinator to make sure they get all the benefits they qualify for. The goal is to give seniors the support they need to live as independently as possible.

“We are trying to really work on expanding our home and community based services delivery because we know that as individuals age the preference if they are able to is to do so in their home setting,” said Cora Steinmetz, administrator for Indiana Family and Social Services.

The state believes 75% of Hoosiers who join the program will be able to get long-term care at home.
