IMPACT in Des Moines providing free fans, A/C units [Video]

DES MOINES, Iowa — As the summer heats up, one organization is partnering with local fire departments to help Des Moines residents stay cool. 

“We typically have funding available to assist with cooling needs, however an increased demand during the winter months for heating assistance has depleted our funds,” said IMPACT CEO Anne Bacon in a statement. “This year we will be relying on the community to assist struggling families with keeping cool.”

Community members can donate new fans and/or air conditioning units in unopened boxes by dropping them off at fire stations in Des Moines, Urbandale and more.
