CHANCE, from Saskatchewan, Canada, struggled to control his weight from a young age, using food as a source of comfort.
As he grew older, the problem snowballed and he was regularly eating over 10,000 calories a day.
His mental health suffered as a result of his size and Chance found himself losing control: "I wasn't working, I was very depressed, it definitely affected my marriage.
It really messed a lot of things up." Chance's weight took a toll on his physical health too – numerous trips to hospital and a brush with death when an infection turned septic meant that Chance's wife Jen never knew whether he would still be alive when she came home from work.
During one of his last trips to hospital, a nurse took Chance's weight and he was shocked to hear that he had hit 600lbs.
