Baby’s grow and develop at different rates. Baby’s first year is a time of lots of growing for your baby in many ways. Your baby will learn in their first year milestones such as:
- learn to crawl
- respond to their own name and other people
- smile, laugh
- reach out to things
- look at you
- learn to feed on solid foods.
Tips to Support Your Baby’s Development
Your baby’s brain is like a sponge, absorbing many things in their environment through their senses, especially in the first three years of life. Parents/caregivers play a key role in monitoring their child’s development.
Parents/caregivers are their baby’s favourite toy. Playing with your baby provides an opportunity for lots of stimulation for your baby. Here are some examples of activities:
- imitating each other’s smile
- feeling different textures
- talking to them while changing diapers
- imitating each other’s sounds
