Game consoles to help PTSD donated to fire department [Video]

First responders deal with all kinds of serious and even disturbing situations on a daily basis.

But something as simple as a game could help alleviate some symptoms of post-traumatic stress.

A recent study by the University of Oxford shows games like Tetris can help after a difficult call, focusing attention to something else and preventing those intrusive memories.

The Shelby County Fire Department’s Peer Support Program received a donation of four handheld game consoles from Chris Robinson.

The department hopes to spread the games throughout the county after a critical incident to help first responders recover.
