Florence mayor under investigation over breach of trust allegations [Video]

FLORENCE, S.C. (WBTW) — Florence Mayor Teresa Myers-Ervin is under investigation by the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division over breach of trust allegations.

SLED was alerted by Florence police about a possible “conflict of interest” stemming from an incident involving a neighbor in mid-April.

According to an April 19 police report, Molette Jackson, the granddaughter and caretaker of the neighbor, claims that Myers-Ervin and her husband withdrew $9,000 from her elderly grandfather’s bank account on the same day they obtained power of attorney over his estate.

Jackson moved to Gladstone Street in February to take care of her grandfather, who recently died. When she learned about the power of attorney, she sought answers from another relative.
