Generational trauma is very real and could be debilitating. Though the younger members of the family may have not lived through the event, it does not mean that it has not had an impact.

Fervor, by Toby Lloyd, was published in February. On the surface, Hannah and Eric Rosenthal live an ordinary life. Devoted to their Jewish faith, they live in North London with their children and Eric’s aging father, Yosef. Yosef is a Holocaust survivor who is going to be the subject of Hannah’s next book.

As the secrets of her grandfather’s past come to the surface, their daughter Elsie starts to change for the worse. She mysteriously disappears after Yosef’s passing and then reappears as if nothing has happened. Hannah suspects that Elsie is getting into something dangerous.
