Family of stabbing victim advocating for domestic violence awareness ahead of trial [Video]

VANCOUVER Wash. (KPTV) – A Vancouver man is accused of stabbing his wife to death in 2021, and his first day in Clark County Court is Thursday.

All week the family of Monica Morales has stood outside the courthouse, saying they are advocating for justice.

Monica Morales was better known as Star by her friends and family, who flew from around the country to be in this week after a long three years of delays.

They say they are concerned Star’s former husband may enter an insanity plea. Under Washington law, he could then seek guardianship of their 11-year-old son.

“She was a wonderful person, she was a great mother,” said Star’s mother Susan Morales. “Her son was everything to her.”
