Expert shares ATV safety tips after Louisiana teens death [Video]

WEST FELICIANA PARISH, La. (BRPROUD) — A family is mourning the loss of a 14-year-old boy who was killed after being thrown off his ATV in West Feliciana Parish on Saturday, June 22. The family tried everything to save the teen but the impact was too severe.

“This is such a sad situation. These are not toys, these are tools that we get on and they can be very dangerous if you don’t know what you’re doing,” said Cameron Gray, general manager of Providence Powerhouse.

The teen was driving on private property in the Cheerful Valley area when he went into a ditch. The West Feliciana Parish Sheriff’s Office said the boy didn’t see the ditch and was ejected by the impact.

Gray said if you’re riding an ATV, make sure you ride in designated areas like an ATV park.
