If we ask around among our friends and acquaintances, we often hear that the greatest fear is that they themselves will suffer from dementia in old age, or that their spouse or parents will develop dementia. And, as there are far more than the official 1.6 million dementia sufferers in Germany, each of us probably knows someone. But how can I tell whether someone already has dementia or “just” age-related, normal “forgetfulness”? For many of us, this is probably the most important question and I will now give you 5 very typical signs of dementia and, above all, the difference between this and forgetfulness in old age.
