Wherever you’re looking, thoroughly check the facility. Talk with staff and residents. What’s the staff to resident ratio? How long have staff worked there? Is there an activity director & what activities are available? How secure is the facility? What are the visiting hours? Are they willing to give you a fee quote in writing? Are there any formal complaints, documented facility license deficiencies, and how recent have they occurred?

You may have limited choices in facility selection but do your research to know with whom and what you’re dealing.
