Commission OKs plan for new 13-lot subdivision in Amherst [Video]

A subdivision plan for 13 single-family home lots called Fox Hall Estates received the Amherst County Planning Commission’s unanimous approval June 20.

The vacant parcel on which the new subdivision will be built comprises 83 acres on both sides of Fox Hall Drive in Amherst, according to Sarah Nichols, the county’s assistant zoning administrator. The county zoning ordinance requires that the commission vote on any subdivision plan exceeding 10 new lots.

The subdivision’s land is zoned agricultural residential, A-1, and proposes to subdivide 28 acres into 13 lots on the north side of Fox Hall Drive resulting in a 54-acre residue parcel on the south side of the road, Nichols said.

One lot is proposed as a corner lot with frontage on Richmond Highway and Fox Hall Drive, Nichols said. The remaining 12 lots front on Fox Hall Drive and no new roads are proposed, she said.
