Businesses to Paint Lynchburg Purple for Alzheimer’s walk [Video]

Lynchburg business owners have the opportunity to raise awareness this weekend for October’s Walk to End Alzheimer’s event by displaying the color purple.

The Alzheimer’s Association hosts a variety of events every year that raise awareness and support for those suffering from the disease, which slowly targets people’s cognitive abilities, and 2024’s Walk to End Alzheimer’s in Lynchburg is seeking participants and donations.

The color purple has historically been associated with Alzheimer’s disease and a variety of other mental and physical health conditions.

“Purple is our signature color, combining the calm stability of blue and the passionate energy of red,” the Alzheimer’s Association writes on its website. “Purple makes a statement about our Association and our supporters: We are strong and unrelenting in the fight against Alzheimer’s disease.”
