Buckhannon Planning Commission holds special meeting Monday night [Video]

BUCKHANNON, W.Va (WDTV) – Members of the Buckhannon community made their voices heard Monday as property holders want to open an Airbnb.

In order to do this the city would need to amend Zoning Ordinance Number 244 which prohibits the property holders to do this.

“It was made for a single-family residential district. That’s why you don’t see what you have in the R-2s. So I’m asking you all to not approve it tonight,” said Nancy Shobe, a Buckhannon resident.

R-1 districts in Buckhannon prohibit any commercialization of any kind because they were made for single family households.

There are quite a few Airbnbs throughout the city, but only in R-2 districts which allow commercialization.
