Biden announces new student loan debt forgiveness plan, Nashville students react [Video]

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) – President Joe Biden announced a new set of proposals to cancel student loan debt on Monday. This new plan comes after the first was blocked.

The White House says the new plan could benefit 30 million Americans.

Rain Bridges is a college sophomore here in Nashville. For her, her college decision was somewhat about keeping it in the family.

”My mother is an alumnus,” she said. “So I was always here, every summer, for like STEM classes and STEM camp and then I got a full-ride scholarship.”

But she said finances still played a big role in where she decided to go to school.

”I don’t really want student loans because I do plan to do a lot past college and I don’t want that to be a factor that affects me,” she said.
