The owner of a tiger cub found wandering around a community in Chachoengsao province last week must pay 1.4 million baht for its long-term care, according to the Department of National Parks, Wildlife and Plant Conservation.
The public relations division of the department said on Sunday that the department had a regulation which required the owner of an illegally-acquired tiger cub to pay 1.39 million baht for the long-term care of the animal. The department estimated that it would have to take care of the cub for about 10 years.
The statement from the department came after a tiger cub was rescued from a community in tambon Bang Wua of Bang Pakong district in Charoenchao early Thursday morning last week.
