ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) – Passover is something the Jewish community has celebrated for millennia.
“It celebrates the Jewish people’s exodus from Egypt living enslaved,” said Rabbi Isser New, with Chabad of Georgia.
The rabbi is preparing Congregation Beth Tafillah for the eight-day holiday which starts Monday evening. He said there is also added security measures due to the holiday. They will start out by eating a type of bread called matzah.
“The Seder is the first night of Passover and the second night of Passover. The highlight being the eating of the matzah, unleavened bread,” he said.
But this year’s Passover holds a different kind of significance. many are on high alert because of the violent atmosphere in the Middle East.
