Arbor Day Foundation recognizes Coastal Carolina Universitys arboretum [Video]

CONWAY, S.C. (WBTW) — Coastal Carolina University’s arboretum has been honored with the 2023 Tree Campus Higher Education recognition by the Arbor Day Foundation.

The award recognizes the school’s efforts in urban forest management. An arboretum is a botanical garden devoted to trees.

The Arbor Day Foundation is the world’s largest nonprofit organization dedicated to planting trees.

CCU’s arboretum earned the distinction by meeting the Tree Campus Higher Education’s five standards: maintaining a tree advisory committee; having a campus tree-care plan; dedicating annual spending for the program; having an Arbor Day observance; and maintaining a student service-learning program.

Jeremy Monday, the university’s senior director of campus environments, said the school is thrilled by the recognition.
