Amplifying Impact Through Partnership – Breakout Session – 2024 AAAA Caregiver Conference [Video]

Shannon has been the Silver Bay Public Library Director for the last two years. We work with a wide range of community partners and strive to provide resources for seniors and their families in our community. Shannon has a BA in English and a master’s in teaching with an emphasis in Conservation Biology and Inquiry Based Learning.

Kelly has held leadership roles, for over twenty years, in a variety of non-profit agencies that focus on supporting children, youth, families, and older adults who are under-resourced or experiencing unstable housing in Northeast Minnesota. She currently is the executive director for North Shore Area Partners in Silver Bay, MN.

In this session, we will share the story of the Lake County Big Read Project. Our Big Read project is a journey filled with conversation, learning, art, and fun that centers on the book “Can’t We Talk About Something More Pleasant” by Roz Chast. Community is so vital for aging in place, nurturing caregivers of aging people, and intergenerational learning. This project will be carried out by 5 county-wide partners, which include 2 libraries, 2 senior services organizations, and a community center. In this presentation, we will share about our collaboration and facilitate a conversation about how partnerships can amplify impacts for caregivers and seniors in our communities.
