Alaska’s Globe Fire Prompts Evacuations Amidst Growing Wildfire Threat | Homepage [Video]

The summer weather we’ve been having has created prime conditions for wildfires in several parts of the state. One fire causing concern lately is the Globe Fire.

The Globe fire is burning in Alaska’s interior, north of Fairbanks.

People living near milepost 42 along the Elliot Highway along with some Department of Transportation work camps were asked to evacuate as the flames continued to spread.

So far the Globe fire has burned more than 1,300 acres.

It’s one of more than 100 wildfires being reported in the state of Alaska.
