Several bills sent to the governor’s desk have been signed into law and will go into effect later this year.

HARTFORD, Conn. — After the legislative session came to a close at midnight Thursday, Gov. Ned Lamont signed several bills sent to his desk into law, according to the governor’s office.

Lamont signed “An Act Concerning the Reporting of Medical Debt,” a law that prohibits medical debt from being reported to credit rating agencies. With this new law, health care providers and hospitals in Connecticut won’t be allowed to report a person’s medical debt to credit rating agencies to use in credit reports. It takes effect July 1.

The governor also signed “An Act Concerning Changes to the Paid Family and Medical Leave Statutes.”
