Advocates fume after Supreme Court ruling allows fines for homeless people sleeping outside [Video]

Another controversial ruling from the Supreme Court came down on Friday. The judges decided cities can ticket homeless people for sleeping outside. The case has been closely watched by cities across the nation because many of them are overwhelmed with a growing homeless population.In Alabama, staff at the Jimmie Hale Mission estimate that 3,700 people are experiencing homelessness. Nearly a quarter of them are in Birmingham.Some non-profit organization leaders don’t see the city fining people who are homeless because it won’t fix the issue. Perryn Carroll, who is the executive director of the Jimmie Hale Mission, believes if unhoused people had the money to pay fines they would have stable and secure housing.
